Individuals with documented nighttime risks such as wandering, falls, entrapment concerns or unsafe interaction with the environment may be evaluated for a safety bed.
The medical record should explain diagnoses, functional limitations, specific safety risks, prior interventions and why less restrictive options have not met the need.
Coverage is never guaranteed. Approval depends on the insurance plan, medical necessity, benefit criteria, required documentation and authorization.
